Website Flipping - Auction Listing Do's and Dont's

Besides traffic and revenue - your auction text is the next most important thing. I've done over a hundred flips so I know a thing or two about auction listings. Here is a list of Do's and Dont's that all website flippers should read.

Clicking through the pages upon pages of Flippa website listings makes me ill. So many sites could sell for so much more if the flipper could only write a better auction.

Website Flipping Auction Listing Do's

* Give a good descriptive title - you can try and mix up your auction title to see what titles get better views
* Do respond to users questions and comments quickly
* Do experiment with pricing strategies such as using the buy it now feature or setting a $1 reserve
* Do offer to host the site - it makes you more money and eliminates headaches for the new buyer
* If your site is making money, don't hide that information - make it big and bold
* Do try and increase your Flippa.com trust rating as much as possible
* Capitalize your auction URLs so buyers can easily read your domain name

Website Flipping Auction Listing Dont's

* Don't be a drone - add some personality to your auction listing
* Give buyers information they need, don't make them ask (most won't)
* Don't lie about anything - ever (this goes for all areas of your life as well!)
* Don't use images you don't have the rights to - find creative commons licensed photos to use
* Don't put a crazy Buy It Now price
* The Flippa.com auction description box does not spell check - don't hit the 'Save' button until you've run your text through a spell check
* Don't bother with the extra listing fees such as Bold or Highlighting - the only extra that really works well is Homepage Featured
*Don't get set in one set way of creating a listing. Experiment and have fun!

Follow these guidelines to increase your chances of making more cash with your flip.
